Zenoss Announces Core 2.4 Open Source Network Monitoring

Zenoss Inc., a provider of commercial open source network and systems management solutions, has announced the general availability of the latest version of its open source network monitoring tool, Zenoss Core 2.4. This release includes new features, better documentation and a host of bug fixes.

Zenoss Core is an open source IT monitoring product that is said to effectively manage the configuration, health and performance of networks, servers and applications through a single, integrated software package.

This current release, the company noted, was made possible by the collaboration of more than 50,000 members of the Zenoss user community who helped report, test and fix over 500 bugs as well as test numerous beta releases.

Key features of Zenoss Core 2.4 include the Setup Wizard to create users and to easily add devices to be monitored. The setup will prompt Zenoss users for authentication credentials for Windows and Linux/UNIX servers as well as community strings for SNMP devices.

In addition, SSH Monitoring capabilities allow Zenoss users to securely access Linux and UNIX servers via secure shell to pull performance metrics and develop extensions for deep reporting capabilities of server performance.
