Click2try Adds MoinMoin to its List of Virtualized Open Source Applications
Click2try, a community site which enables the easy opening and trying of open source software announced the addition of MoinMoin to its online catalog of virtualized open source applications.
Click2try users will be able to try
applications for free and then use them continuously if required with
subscriptions, said the company.
MoinMoin is a fast, easy-to-edit and
simple to maintain, advanced and extensible wiki engine with a large
user base. Its storage mechanism is not like a database but is based on
flat files and folders. This enables users to edit content in a text
editor if required on the server.
“As the wiki of choice for many corporate intranets and open source projects, we are proud to make MoinMoin available to even more users through our open source catalog,” said Mario Grech, click2try CEO.

“Given its variety of features,
MoinMoin can meet a number of needs. Now visitors to our site can
easily evaluate and compare MoinMoin with other featured wiki engines
including DokuWiki, MediaWiki and TikiWiki,” Grech emphasized.
MoinMoin is implemented in Python and
is multilingual. It also includes GUI WYSIWYG editing capabilities,
e-mail and jabber notification, built-in full text search and access
control lists (ACL) which makes the content management system
practical. MoinMoin also supports plugins enabling the integration of
other formats or applications like other wikis, said click2try.
The company strives to provide ways
and means for consumers and companies to easily evaluate and use wiki
engines in the open source market. Visitors to the site are allowed to
try any application for free after bypassing downloads. They may
subscribe to an affordable service plan if they desire persistent
access.
Subscribers can save data, share
applications with other registered users and be assured of secure
storage for all their applications and data. All the data is stored
within a hardened network infrastructure at click2try’s data center in
Houston, Texas. The company hosts more than 40 open source applications
in its VM Jukebox and is continuously adding new applications every
week.
Click2try is a Community-driven Web
site which is content-rich and it tests, evaluates, and hosts existing
open source software products on pre-configured virtual appliances. It
owns a comprehensive collection of information on selected open source
software applications online. The usability and access of open source
software will be made available reliably and economically to more users
said the company.
