PloneGov: Public Sector achieving independence from large IT providers

Just recently the European Commission has released a detailed case study about the innovative collaborative project PloneGov. In the weeks to come, excerpts will be published as a serialized novel on the website of Zea Partners.

PloneGov is an awarded eGovernment open source initiative. It has become one of largest open source eGovernment project. The European Open Source Observatory and Repository (OSOR), a project of the European Commission's IDABC, has approved an updated version of a PloneGov case study (11 pages).  

The development of the PloneGov outlines the benefits of promoting actively Plone/Zope in a fast growing market:

- it reaches 72 public organizations in 14 countries.

- locally, it reached 16% of the towns in Wallonia.
