Summary of the World Plone Day 2008 in Munich

On November 7th the Plone Project arranged a World Plone Day in Munich for the first time ever. Worldwide Plone enthusiastic users and interested parties presented Zope-CMS.

The outrider of the event was the Munich regional Zope-User group. Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Leipzig joined too and arranged single and series of lectures.

The event in the Munich Seidlvilla was attended by approximately 60 participants and was started of with a classical introduction of the Zope-CMS. The most important features of the CMS were emphasized, e.g. Internationalization and scalability. Users can execute image editing with the system such as layout or brightness adjustment directly in the web front end via the Add-on Image Editor. The Editor uses the  Python Imaging Library.

Amnesty International and the Universities Yale and Harvard were mentioned as reference projects. The online portal Plone.net was also mentioned which in contrast to the project site Plone.org is aimed at businesses and professional users and also contains Case Studies. On the project site under "Products" you will find extensions such as Audio- and Video-Player or Web shops.
